B&G Home is a contemporary luxury residence designed in Kigali, Rwanda. The architectural concept is defined by a single large floating roof that visually unifies the entire composition while extending beyond the building envelope to create generous shaded outdoor spaces.

 

Rather than separating architecture and landscape, the project integrates terraces, swimming pool, garden and interior living areas into one continuous residential environment suitable for Rwanda's tropical climate.

 

A House Defined by Continuous Slab Movement
The architectural identity of B&G Home is generated by the continuity of horizontal slab movements.Large cantilevered floor plates extend beyond enclosed spaces to form balconies, outdoor lounges and covered terraces. These projecting volumes create deep shadows, strengthen the horizontal character of the building and blur the transition between interior and exterior living.Instead of relying on decorative façade elements, the project expresses its architecture through clean structural lines, generous roof overhangs and carefully balanced proportions.

 

Double-Height Living Room as the Social Center
The main living room occupies a dramatic double-height volume positioned at the heart of the residence.

 

A full-height glazed façade opens the interior toward the swimming pool and surrounding landscape, allowing natural daylight to penetrate deep into the house throughout the day.The living room connects visually with the upper floor, creating spatial continuity between both levels while emphasizing openness rather than compartmentalized living.Natural stone walls, custom shelving and contemporary lighting create a strong architectural focal point within this central gathering space.

 

Swimming Pool Integrated with Architecture
The swimming pool is conceived as an extension of the architecture rather than a separate landscape feature.One of the structural columns supporting the floating roof is positioned directly inside the pool, transforming a structural necessity into a defining architectural gesture.

 

Large terraces surrounding the pool provide outdoor living, dining and relaxation areas while maintaining uninterrupted views from the interior spaces.

 

Elevated Living Experience
Unlike conventional residential layouts, B&G Home positions the principal living spaces on the upper floor.

 

The main salon extends outward above the entrance, forming a cantilever that defines the arrival experience while maximizing panoramic views across the surrounding landscape.

 

This elevated arrangement increases privacy while creating stronger visual connections between interior spaces and nature.
